How to say "until" in Finnish

Kunnes is until something happens:

  • Etsin, kunnes löydän sen. - I'll search until I find it.
  • Luin, kunnes nukahdin.  - I read until I fell asleep.
  • Kalle joi, kunnes sammui. - Kalle drank until he passed out.

Asti and saakka both mean until a certain time or place:

  • Olen töissä viiteen asti. - I'll be at work until five.
  • Juoksin kotiin saakka. - I run (all the way to) home.
