How to use the Finnish verb 'törmätä'

Törmätä is one of the verbs that mean more than one thing. 

To crash into something


  • Törmäsimme toiseen veneeseen. = We crashed into another boat. 
  • Auto törmäsi sähköpotkulautailijaan. = A car hit a person on an electric scooter.

To run and bump into someone


  • Olipa kiva törmätä sinuun! - It was nice to run into you!
  • Toivottavasti en törmää tuttuihin. - I hope that I won't bump into anyone I know.
